Prudhoe & District

New Members Information

Welcome to our u3a! We hope you enjoy your time with us.

We’re looking forward to meeting you in soon at one of our Monday monthly meetings or at the Tuesday socials, to tell you all about the u3a, and what to expect at the meetings. If you wish to use Zoom, we hold hybrid Monday meetings and you can get the link from our Booking Secretary.

Most of our interest groups are meeting face to face with a few still on Zoom. Please click on the Group you are interested in and an email can be sent directly to the Convenor to find out the details. You may want to try some groups to see it it’s for you, so ask about this when you email.

As things have started to get back to “normal”, we’ve got a number of exciting events coming up this year. Everything is listed on the Events page. There are also a couple of competitions you might be interested in. We have a special Summer event in August and December there will be a Christmas meal and a party (these details will come out nearer the time).

Feel free to contact any of the u3a committee for further information.

Background

The u3a was first called the ’University of the 3rd age’’. It was founded in 1982, and it remains a UK-wide movement of locally-run volunteers who together provide a wide range of opportunities for people to come together to ‘learn, laugh and live.’ There are over 1,000 u3as in England and most members are no longer in full-time work. Activities range from Art to Zoology.
