Creative Writing
The writing group began in January 2013, prior to the pandemic we met in the Spetchells but due to some members changed situations we have continued to meet monthly on zoom. In the past we have produced an anthology of our work and collaborated with our digital photography group in an exhibition and book of stories and pictures. We were also able to host workshops with local authors and poets at our meeting.
Our format now is to set a new topic each month, this could be as varied as ‘think of a tree and tells its’ story from the trees point of view’ ( based on a recent u3a talk) or a random list of words which must be incorporated in the story. Perhaps about a favourite picture or even the first and last lines of a book or poem. Anything, goes, the aim is to continue the enjoyment and mental benefit we all get from writing creativity. This often leads to various discussion on varied topics, we learn from each other and laugh with each other in a truly supportive environment.
