The start time of walks will vary. For shorter walks it will usually be 10.00am and for longer walks at 9.30am. Please arrive at the meeting point in good time to hear the walk briefing.
Please check the walk programme for the start time of each walk before making any journey.
If the weather is bad every effort will be made to send out an email cancelling the walk by 9.00am or earlier. If you are still in doubt contact the relevant Walk Leader or the Convenor.
The standard U3A charge of 50p per walk applies.
On the morning of a walk if you have difficulty locating the meeting point please contact the Walk Leader by mobile
The walks and any changes will be on the website - u3asites.org.uk/prestonpark
Any very late changes will be emailed to you. Please check for an email before leaving home.
Car sharing is encouraged, particularly when paying car parks are used.
Please contact the Walk Leader or Convenor if you need a lift.
The Walk Leader may change the route on the day due to conditions or for other reasons.
Walk descriptions indicate the expected degree of difficulty.
Moderate, about 2.5 hours. A fairly flat walk with, perhaps, a few gentle slopes.
Medium, about 3 hours. With several climbs and descents but none very steep.
Strenuous, about 3.5 hours. With a number of long and/or steep climbs and descents.
Walkers are responsible for their own safety. The description of a walk is an indication of the expected terrain and duration. It is the individual's responsibility to:
- ensure that suitable footwear and clothing are worn;
- not stray off route or walk in advance of the walk leader;
- exercise care at all times;
- be aware of their own fitness for the walks described;
- carry their PPU3A Membership card with emergency contact details.
The Walk Leader or the First Aider will carry a basic first aid kit and a mobile phone.
All U3A's are covered by Public Liability Insurance only. This is not a personal accident policy.
Regrettably dogs and young children are not invited on The Walking Group walks.
