IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR RELATING TO COVID-19 EPIDEMIC
March 16th 2020 - Updated September 2020
We are sorry that due to the Corvid 19 virus there will be no meetings until at least January. We might have to cancel more but we will see how things go. It is our duty to keep you all safe.
Also the AGM will be going ahead by post in the next couple of months, please let us know if anyone has not had any information by November.
There is not much else to say except that we are hoping to hold some small coffee mornings for those members who might like to socialise in mini groups.
Some Interest Groups will also be postponed - please check with your convenors. Groups which meet outside for example Strollers, long walks, cycling, may be happy to carry on. This will be up to yourselves to decide, maybe smaller groups also feel they can carry on. John Colman hopes to carry on with Badminton for example, provided Sports Halls are open.
Ann Kerrison’s Garden Visits have been cancelled and will be rescheduled for 2021.
All trips and visits have been postponed or cancelled for the remainder of this year. Caroline and Alan have nothing else planned.
If you live on your own and need any help with anything, please contact myself and we will see if we can do anything for you. Anyone willing to offer assistance please let me know.
It is a lonely time for some of you, so try and keep in touch with anyone you know. Perhaps you could meet up for walks locally on fine weather days or enjoy coffee/tea in the parks, even take your own drink with you. Cafes of course might not be open but we need to try and support them. We just have to be sensible.
We are all in this together, so let us help others where we can. Preston Park U3A have always been a generous, friendly group so let's keep it that way.

|HELP NEEDED PLEASE:|
A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR AND COMMITTEE
We are still in need of volunteers for the following.
1. Hall stewards, to help (occasionally) Kevin & Peter & Ken to get the hall ready for our monthly general meetings, and then help to clear and tidy up afterwards.
2. Meeters & Greeters, to get to the hall 20 minutes before the the start of the meeting, and be welcoming and helpful to those that are new, look new, or are just plain lost in our Preston Park ways of doing things.
3. Newsletter Compiler/Editor. I don't think that we have any shortage of news and pictures, we just need someone who can put it all together for us, please, if you think that you could help, give me a call.
4. Volunteers to help on the Check-in Desk at the monthly meetings.
5. An Archivist to ‘quite simply file and look after the U3A paper records, probably one or two box files, nothing onerous’.
Additionally, would any member be interested in volunteering to organise Low Key Publicity
Press this link to email Alan Beebe if you are willing to help or would like further details about these posts or you can call Alan on 01273 559108.
|PRESTON PARK U3A CAR SHARE GUIDELINES:|
Version 1. Revised 2nd June 2019.
The Third Age Trust has stated that U3A members can offer lifts to other members and accept money towards fuel costs without compromising their vehicle insurance policy.
It is recommended that we have guidelines so that the matter is handled fairly and consistently with the driver getting back an appropriate proportion of the fuel cost but not the total amount.
In the event of a vehicle accident, it would normally be the vehicle insurance that would properly cover matters relating to the driving of the vehicle. Any claim would generally fall outside the scope of the Public Liability Insurance your U3A has through the Third Age Trust.
1 The driver warrants that the vehicle is properly insured, taxed and roadworthy.
2 The driver is not obliged to accept any contribution.
3 The recommended current contribution is 10 pence per mile per member based on a 4 or 5 seat vehicle.
4 The above contribution rate will be reviewed from time to time.
