QI GONG
DESCRIPTION:
Qigong, pronounced "chee-gong," is an exercise practice rooted in Chinese philosophy, martial arts and traditional medicine. Less well known than Taiji (Tai-chi) it has similar features though the movements tend to be easier to learn. Both practices promote wellbeing, boost the immune system, allow fast recovery from illness and may help conditions such as arthritis and blood pressure issues.
Strength, flexibility, balance and coordination are cultivated as well as emotional health and groundedness. 40 minutes of Qigong practice will put us into a good state for 20 minutes of sitting meditation. If you think you can't meditate then this will prove you wrong.
The class is suitable for absolute beginners, people with some experience, and can be adapted for those with any medical conditions. Paul has many decades experience and training in both practices as well as a background as a professional psychologist. He is also an instructor at Wickwoods Country Club, Albourne.
Weekly attendance is encouraged but not essential.
Interested participants are welcome to attend a taster class free of charge.
