We are a lively group from a multitude of backgrounds who come together to use philosophical approaches to learn more about a variety of topics of everyday interest.
In Everyday Philosophy we think about issues that affect the way we live in society. We are philosophical in that we justify our thinking and examine the thinking process but do not necessarily refer to many philosophers or concepts as we do in the other Philosophy group.
Some people attend both groups.
Recent topics include Decision Making in Britain, The Supernatural, Fear, Open Questions, Personal Decision Making about Health, How Will Our Descendants Judge Us?, Biological Determinism & Death and Dying.
July's topic was Political Correctness led by Stuart Mason.
August: Misogyny led by Joan Corcoran.
September: Morals vs Ethics in the context of Social Media led by Mike Maughan.
October: Is it right to use Nazi research if it can save lives? led by Mike Green.
November: Emotional Intelligence led by Kay Harrison
January: Anti-semetism led by Phil Pacey
