Welcome to our U3A
The Potters Bar U3A is a member of the Third Age Trust. We are a self-help organisation and our aims are firstly to advance learning to people who are no longer in full time employment, and secondly to provide facilities to support learning, recreational activities and personal development for people in Potters Bar and local areas.
Our new membership year, 2019-20, began on 1st August 2019. Click this link for the Membership Application Form, and once you have completed it, please send it to The Membership Secretary as per the instructions. Your application will be processed and a welcome pack sent to you as soon as possible.
Our renewal process from 2018-19 to 2019-20 has now finished, so if you were unable to renew between mid-June and the end of October, you will now have to re-join, which you do by printing off the attached membership form and following the instructions given on that form. Should you have any queries regarding your application please contact the Membership Secretary on 07544 263356 or at email@example.com
The fees cover attendance at monthly meetings, copies of the quarterly newsletter plus issues of ‘3rd Age Matters’ as well as attendance at all interest groups, although some groups may need to make a small charge to cover room hire, postage and refreshments etc. We have around seventy active groups with a total membership of around 800.
Our monthly meetings are held in the Wyllyotts Centre, usually on the second Monday of the month (but no meeting in August). If you are interested in joining us or just wish to know more about our U3A then either come to the next meeting and ask to speak to a committee member at the membership table - there are always a great number of people milling about but we are all friendly and want you to join us - or use the contact email link, as above; visitors can attend the monthly meeting twice before we ask them to join.
The Virtual U3A
The Virtual U3A (vU3A), which went live in January 2009, is an online only U3A affiliated to the Third Age Trust. One of its principal aims is to provide the U3A experience for those who are rendered isolated in some way by circumstances or geography and unable to play a full part in a terrestrial U3A. More information is available on the public website The Virtual U3A where one can also apply for membership. Why not click on the link and pay it a visit and if you know of anyone who might benefit please pass the information on?
