Potters Bar

Welcome to our U3A

The Potters Bar U3A is a member of the Third Age Trust. We are a self-help organization and our aims are firstly to advance learning to people who are no longer in full time employment, and secondly to provide facilities to support learning, recreational activities and personal development for people in potters bar and local areas.

Our new membership year, 2020-21, began during the summer, and our renewal process for this year has now finished, so if you were unable to renew between mid-August and the end of November, you will now have to re-join, which you do by printing the membership form and following the instructions given on that form. Should you have any queries regarding your application please contact the Membership Secretary on 07544 263356 or at membership@pbu3a.org.uk

The fees cover attendance at monthly meetings (once they resume), copies of the quarterly newsletter (currently only sent electronically) plus issues of ‘3rd Age Matters’ as well as attendance at all interest groups, although some groups may need a small charge to cover room hire, or postage and refreshments etc. We have around sixty-five active groups with a total membership of around 630.

Our monthly meetings used to be held in the Wyllyotts Centre, usually on the second Monday of the month, however this has not happened since March 2020, and there are no plans to re-start in the near future. Indeed, we are currently trialing zoom monthly meetings, details of which are sent to current members directly.

The Virtual U3A
The VirtualU3A Virtual U3A (vU3A), which went live in January 2009, is an online only U3A affiliated to the Third Age Trust. One of its principal aims is to provide the U3A experience for those who are rendered isolated in some way by circumstances or geography and unable to play a full part in a terrestrial U3A. More information is available on the public website The Virtual U3A where one can also apply for membership.
