Potters Bar

Welcome to our U3A

The Potters Bar U3A is a member of the Third Age Trust. We are a self-help organisation and our aims are firstly to advance learning to people who are no longer in full time employment, and secondly to provide facilities to support learning, recreational activities and personal development for people in Potters Bar and local areas.

Renewal of Current members
Normally the 2019-20 membership year would have run from 1st August 2019 until 31st July 2020, however, given the unusual circumstances of recent months it has been decided that all members as at 31 July will have their membership extended for two months until 30 September at nil cost. During mid to late August all those members will have the membership renewal form and accompanying notes sent to them either by email or by post. If anyone is still uncertain as to how the renewals process will work they can contact the Membership Secretary either at membership@pbu3a.org.uk or by phone on 07544 263356

New members
As indicated above our membership year would normally have finished on 31 July 2020. Should anyone wish to join us after 1st August 2020, please print off the attached Membership Form, complete it and send it to The Membership Secretary as per the instructions thereon. This membership runs until 31 July 2021, but like many organisations we are not currently able to offer all of our normal activities.

All members
The fees in both cases cover attendance at monthly meetings (once they resume) copies of the quarterly newsletter (currently only sent electronically) plus issues of 3rd Age Matters as well as attendance at all interest groups, although some groups may need to make a small charge to cover room hire, postage and refreshments etc. We have around sixty-five active groups with a total membership of just over 800.

Should you have any queries regarding anything stated above, please contact the Membership Secretary on 07544 263356 or at membership@pbu3a.org.uk

Our monthly meetings are normally held in the Wyllyotts Centre, usually on the second Monday of the month (but no meeting in August). If you are interested in joining us or just wish to know more about our U3A then either come to the next meeting and ask to speak to a committee member at the membership table - there are always a great number of people milling about but we are all friendly and want you to join us - or use the contact email link, as above; visitors can attend the monthly meeting twice before we ask them to join.

The Virtual U3A
The VirtualU3A Virtual U3A (vU3A), which went live in January 2009, is an online only U3A affiliated to the Third Age Trust. One of its principal aims is to provide the U3A experience for those who are rendered isolated in some way by circumstances or geography and unable to play a full part in a terrestrial U3A. More information is available on the public website The Virtual U3A where one can also apply for membership. Why not click on the link and pay it a visit and if you know of anyone who might benefit please pass the information on?
