Welcome to our U3A
The Potters Bar U3A is a member of the Third Age Trust. Our aims are firstly to advance learning to the older generation who are no longer in full time employment, and secondly to provide facilities for leisure time and recreational activities with the objective of improving the conditions of life for such persons in the interest of their social welfare.
Membership is a modest £13 for 2017/18 and covers attendance at monthly meetings, copies of the newsletter plus 5 issues of '3rd Age Matters' and attendance at all interest groups, although a small charge may be necessary to cover room hire, postage or refreshments etc.. We have over forty active interest groups with a total membership of circa 800. You can print off the new member Application Form here, (pdf format).
Our monthly meetings are held in the Wyllyotts Centre (usually) on the second Monday of the month
(except August). If you are interested in joining us or just wish to know more about our U3A then either come to the next meeting and ask to speak to a committee member, there are always a great number of people milling about but we are all friendly and want you to join us; or use the contact email link; a nominal £1.00 charge is made to visitors attending the monthly meeting(2 visits only).
The Virtual U3A
The Virtual U3A (vU3A), which went live in January 2009, is an online only U3A affiliated to the Third Age Trust. One of its principal aims is to provide the U3A experience for those who are rendered isolated in some way by circumstances or geography and unable to play a full part in a terrestrial U3A. More information is available on the public website The Virtual U3A where one can also apply for membership. Why not click on the link and pay it a visit and if you know of anyone who might benefit please pass the information on?
