Machine Patchwork and Sewing
MACHINE PATCHWORK & SEWING ( Sylvia James ) Contact details in Newsletter
The group meets on the first Monday of each month from around 1.30 – 3.30.
Basic techniques of cutting fabric, machine sewn patchwork and quilting can be demonstrated if required. Fabric can be supplied for small ‘beginner’ projects and you don’t need to bring a sewing machine!
We usually work on a joint project of some kind. For example, we have supplied small cot sized quilts for premature babies born at Barnet Hospital and previously made some larger quilts for Potters Bar hospital and Keech Cottage Children’s hospice. More recently we have designed and made appliqué pictures and our current project includes cushion covers incorporating various sewing techniques.
Meetings are usually ‘show and tell’ when we show each other whatever we are making and share ideas and tips. This work can be any kind of sewing, including embroidery, tapestry and hand
patchwork / quilting. We always include a cup of tea and a chat!
