Group Leader Contact: Anne Clarke (Contact details in Newsletter)
We meet on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 2 – 4pm
Over the years this group has been in existence, we have covered various aspects of British and European history, from the Age of Enlightenment, the rise of science, voyages of exploration, the relationship between England and France and much more.
We try and support each meeting with an appropriate 30 minute – 1 hr DVD, sourced from the Resources office, or a pre-recorded TV programme to try to get a fuller picture of the topic we are discussing.
We have been worklng through the history of Britain using Open University materials supplemented with downloads from the Open Learn website. Also we have researched the beginnings of the Roman Empire, its expansion, influence and its decline. We are currently studying American history.
