Bird Watching (4th Wednesday)
The Bird Watching Group meets at the Community Centre usually on the 4th Wednesday of the month at an agreed time and then travels to a site of interest.
Our next trip is to Goldcliff in Newport on Wed 26th Sept. If you would like a lift please be outside Café 50 at 9.15 am or, if you prefer to make your own way there, we aim to be by the Seawall Tearooms (NP18 2PH), where we can park, by 10 am. If you are going to go straight there would you please let me know by email or text.
On the short recce that Glen and I did in the teaming rain, we heard a curlew and saw a pair of stonechats, a heron, a little egret and various other water fowl. We think two hours there will be plenty so we should be back at Café 50 before 1 pm.
Please note that the only toilet is in the café but as this is reserved for customers only you will need to buy a coffee or something if you want to use it.
For each of our trips sturdy footwear is recommended and, if you have them, bring binoculars, a small bird book, a drink and and a snack or sandwiches. The duration of each trip will depend on the weather and the bird life! If you need to be back by a specific time, please make that known before we start.
