We meet to exchange ideas and to learn from each other with the aim of maximising our members' success in their efforts to trace their family history.
The library provides us with free access to Ancestry UK during our meetings. Members have presented their stories involving family ancestors, focusing on such topics as trades, places of birth and interesting stories. We have also organised group visits to the Shrewsbury Archives and to other u3a Family History Groups.
The more experienced members offer mentoring and guidance to the inexperienced members. Meetings are arranged to allow members to report on both their successes and failures in research and to seek help from each other in finding out how to break through “brick walls” that are blocking their discoveries.
If you would like to research your own family history, we would love to welcome you to our friendly group.
For more information on the group as a whole, please feel free to contact our group leaders via the contact link for Family History on this page.
