Coordinator: Stuart Robertson
We meet on the second Thursday of the month, usually at 10.30am at a gallery for either a guided tour, talk or a visit with notes prepared by a member of the group, followed by an optional informal discussion and coffee!
You need no knowledge of Art History or Art – just interest and a desire to learn!
In the past two years we have visited Turner at the Tate with a pre-exhibition talk. We have had several fascinating guided tours at the National Gallery, including Encoded Messages, Dramatic Story-telling, and Early Renaissance Italian Painting. We have visited the Courtauld Gallery, for the Impressionists and the Rodin and Dance exhibition and have familiarised ourselves with the Roccoco and admired Bonington at the Wallace Collection. In 2017 the group visited the National Gallery three times, twice for private tours. Visits were also made to the Estorick Gallery, Tate Britain, Tate Modern, Henry Moore Collection at Perry Green, and the Serpentine Gallery.
