Palmers Green & Southgate

Bridge Club Online

Coordinator: Frances Halliday 020 8886 3773

You are invited to play bridge in a virtual club online. Many of our members play in our own U3A Groups or in other local clubs face to face. Provided you know the basics of bridge you are welcome to join this group.

I have been playing online at Bridge Club Live for a number of years. It is a well run club where you play with real people in real time and is a great place to play, whether you want to just practise or compete in a tournament and even get Master Points.

If you would like to join I can send you an invitation - just send me a message and you will receive an email from Bridge Club Live.

There is the option to join a "local club" such as ours and play with people you already know. Therefore I have registered Palmers Green & Southgate U3A as a "club" within Bridge Club Live. Several people have already signed up and more are in the pipeline.

Under Bidding Systems, tick Basic Acol

I would suggest that first of all you watch a few games in Daily MPS.
Then go to the Social Room and practise there with someone you know.
If playing with a pick-up partner click on their profile to check that they play Basic ACOL (with strong 2s) or ACOL with 3 weak 3s, start a table (and not SAYC only).

To play with a specific person click on their profile and Invite them to play. Then go to the chosen room, start a table and wait for them to accept. Your partner will then automatically be seated with you.

Rooms where you can play include:

Social Room for relaxed bridge. Play as few or as many games as you like.
Improvers Tourney (Sunday and Wednesday), 16 boards with the same partner, allow 90 minutes give or take
Daily MPS, Enter DIDO with your partner to play 4 games against a random pair - a good way to learn by playing against better players.
Coaching Corner - Play anytime, check daily timetable to see when a Coach will be available.

Note that wherever you play, the following day you can check your results and the hands you played including the bidding and the card play, providing that you played sufficient boards.
