Ruth Cope initiated the group when she owned the Wool Shop in September 2009 with just three of us plus a tutor to show us how easy and effective this hand sewing craft is. She started us off with making hexagonal pincushions which we stuffed with washed sheep’s wool she’d gathered from the fields. We continued meeting at the Woolshop (our numbers increased and fluctuated) after Ruth retired.
Miss Lemon took over the shop and was happy for us to continue meeting in the upstairs room twice a month until August 2018 when she closed the shop.
The group now has eight regular members and our new home is the community room in the fire station. We meet on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 2 - 4pm when we stitch and chat and have a laugh as we enjoy each other’s company.
