This group is suitable for all ages and for all levels of physical ability. The beauty of yoga is that everyone works within their own capabilities and does what feels right for them.
Depending on individuals’ physical comfort level the exercises can be performed whilst sitting and/or standing. There can be progression to floor work for those who are able, which can be assessed in the first few sessions together.
The 60 minute session will include:
- Breathing techniques for body awareness, concentration and focus
- Specific stretches to help with stiffness, anxiety and balance
- Exercises for increased circulation, strengthening and toning
- Meditation to aid relaxation and calm the mind
The tutor, Angela, has over 25 years of yoga experience and loves being able to bring yoga to people of all ages and abilities, offering techniques to improve mobility whilst bringing about a sense of calm and joy. The sessions are particularly designed for those who may be restricted in their movements and feel that a full yoga class may be beyond them. Members will be able to participate even if they are unsure of their balance, prefer to sit rather than stand and not able to do any floor sessions.
New members are very welcome: the group meets in central Petersfield on Wednesday mornings during school term times. There is a charge of £3 per session to cover room hire and expenses.
