With a weather forecast of heavy rain showers and strong winds for most of the country it was decided to leave the summits for another day. Six members therefore set off to Invermark near the head of Glen Esk. The track followed the Water of Lee to Loch Lee and onwards up Glen Lee before crossing the footbridge and walking over open moorland towards the Fall of Unich. Climbing up the side of the falls the views into the gorge and the upper Falls of Damff were spectacular with fast flowing water roaring downwards and throwing up spray in the wind. From the top, views of Loch Lee and the impressive corrie and Carlochy below were enjoyed before descending the Shank of Inchgrundle and retracing the outward route along the north side of Loch Lee. A day of wet blustery showers interspersed with long spells of sunshine was pleasantly concluded with coffee and cakes at the Edzell Cafe before returning to Perth.
