2019-04a Tullich Hill Walk (2)
Tullich Hill, Ben Reoch and Beinn Bhreac
Start Point 91 m (298 feet), Highest Point 676m (2218 feet), Distance 10.8 km (6.71 miles), Total Ascent 1095 m (3593 feet), Time taken 6hrs 04m
Various forecasters suggested west would be best. Nine members headed to Glen Douglas, between Loch Lomond and Loch Long, to take in a circuit of two “Grahams” together with two associated “Graham Tops” (Scottish hills between 2000 and 2500 ft ). A sunny, if chilly, start was made, up the energy sapping south slope of Tullich Hill (newly planted with indigenous trees). The summit offered wonderful views down into Loch Long. A steep descent followed, avoiding the rocky crags of the eastern slopes into An t-Sreang before a steep climb of the western slope of Ben Reoch with outstanding views from the summit to the sunlit hills of the Arrochar Alps, Ben Lomond and many other peaks
Following a restorative lunch it was a southerly traverse along the undulating high level ridge to Beinn Bhreac before a steep descent back to the car park.
The Inverbeg Hotel provided refreshments for our way home. Forecasts don’t always get it right, but they certainly did today.
