2018-09a Benarty Hill Walk
Start Point 136 m (446 feet), Highest Point 383 m (1257 feet), Distance 10.9 km (6.77 miles), Time taken 4hrs 55m
7 members met at Broxden at 8am. With forecasts for strong winds it was decided instead of the planned route to walk the ridge to the summit of Benarty Hill from the Vane Farm carpark. Once on the ridge the cloud lifted to reveal 360 degree views over Loch Leven, the Ochil Hills, Loch Ore and the Queensferry Bridge. The site of a hill fort was discovered and there was an opportunity to view a hovering kestrel, several fox moth caterpillars and clusters of ladybirds huddled together in seed pods and on conifer branches.
Coffee and cake at Vane Farm rounded off the day
