The Group Leader is David Sweatman.
Beginners' French is held at the "Hut" between 1.30 - 3pm on the 2nd Thursday of each month and is hopefully a useful introduction to an interest in grasping the French language.
This is a friendly, lively, and humorous group, so you are assured of a welcome.
As you are aware we are now connected to the world at large through Wi-Fi which offers a new perspective for learning foreign languages through the medium of the internet( eg: Google Translate). In an effort to broaden our field in this respect, the use of such facilities is almost limitless and it therefore seems appropriate to suggest that we introduce this idea to the class for those who are familiar with computer/Tablet technology and who wish to use these devices to complement the learning process; there is of course no obligation either way .
A further point is that we are always seeking new members to the class and the use of such an aid to learning may in some cases give encouragement to those who feel that to embark upon the prospect of learning another language at this stage in their lives is a bit daunting (many of us, of course, have not done this kind of thing since school days) Be not afraid; we have one level which caters for all; a broad church so to speak, always having regard to the ethos of U3A - that we help each other!
Kind Regards Dave
