The Committee wish to thank most sincerely Dave Sweatman for chairing the sub-committee to arrange Trips out and about for our U3A. Also we must thank Pam Leaning for assisting Dave with this. They meet regularly to put ideas together for future outings.
It is up to us, the Members, to support them, please.
Thank you.

OUR NEXT TRIP IS ON TUESDAY MARCH 12th 2019 ( Home in time for tea!)
Our next trip will first take us to the museum which takes us on a journey through the once thriving hatting industry of Stockport .There are examples of hats from across the world and through time .There is also a souvenir shop .
The hatworks tours are led by expert demonstrators who will share with us knowledge of the industry and give an insight into the processes of making a hat ,the cottage industry and a visit to a hatters cottage and the chance to observe the original working Victorian machinery
There is a lift to each of the 3 floors of the museum and all the usual facilities including disabled toilets and wheelchair access are available, assistance can be given if necessary . Tea coffee and biscuits can be ordered by prior arrangement and provided at the museum. Full Café facilities are available at the Plaza Theatre which is a short walk from the Museum
The coach will then take us to visit Stockport’s intriguing network of undergroung tunnels which give an insight into life in 1940s Wartime Britain . When the shelters were first opened in 1939 with room for 3,850 people they were the largest civilian shelters in the country . An audio-guide information panels, authentically recreated settings illustrate the extent of Stockport’s air raid precautions for life on the home front
The coach will leave the car park at the hut on the hill at 10am.The cost will be decided upon when final numbers are known but it will not exceed £20 .The sub committee will do their utmost to make this a very successful trip
