Paignton

Welcome

u3a is an international movement, with a presence in many countries worldwide.

Under the umbrella of the UK Third Age Trust, which celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2022, there are over 1,000 u3a groups boasting about 500,000 members.

Membership is open to anyone no longer in full-time work, and enjoying their "third age". The ethos of the organisation is reflected in its strapline "learn, laugh, live", and members can learn and interact socially in a relaxed and co-operative atmosphere. No academic qualifications are needed!

Each local u3a is affiliated to the national body, but is run as an independent entity.

Paignton u3a was formed in 2005 and has run continuously since that time. Anyone interested in becoming a member can join by completing a membership form, available at the monthly general meetings held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month, or by sending a SAE to the Membership Secretary (contact can be made directly via the Contact page on this website). The annual subscription is currently £15.00 (full membership) or £10.00 (associate membership) & includes the coveted monthly newsletter by email.

The monthly meetings often feature a speaker, and afford an excellent opportunity to catch up with friends - not to mention make new ones!

Paignton u3a offers over 20 different group activities. Please click on the 'Groups' menu to find out more.
