Overton & District

Welcome

The u3a (University of the Third Age) is a UK movement of people in their third age, no longer in full time work, who come together to learn, stay active and have fun in a friendly and informal environment. The movement includes over 400,000 u3a members in more than 1,000 u3as and is continuing to grow every day. Members of local u3as draw upon their knowledge and experiences to teach and learn from each other and share educational, creative and leisure activities in a friendly and informal environment.

The Overton u3a is a thriving organisation with over 200 members. We have approaching thirty different Study Groups run by members and meeting regularly in venues within the Overton area. We are always open to suggestions for new groups and welcome the involvement of all members as this is what makes Overton such a flourishing and popular u3a. All members are welcome at our Main Meeting which is held on the third Wednesday of each month, in St. Mary's Hall, Overton.

Here are a few word from our Chair:

This year is the 40th anniversary of the u3a and Overton’s group has survived through the recent restrictions largely due to the resilience and hard work of its committee and support from you, its members. A warm welcome to this new updated website which contains information about meetings, groups and officers.

I look forward to your participation in our gatherings in St Mary’s Hall on the 3rd Wednesday of each month and encourage you to join one or more of our special interest groups. These groups are core to u3a and we are keen to increase the variety on offer. If you have a particular enthusiasm or passion which is not included and are interested in helping to set one up our Groups Co-ordinator, would love to hear from you. Her contact details can be found in the list of officers on the Contact page.
