We are thrilled to let you all know that the new website is now live.

Our Chairman, William Sear, said "This is a great new resource for Orpington U3A. Members will receive logon details after the official launch in the new year but I would encourage you all to take a look now and let us know what you think".
Orpington U3A is one of over 1000 independent U3As in the UK with a total membership of over 400,000. It is a self-help organisation - each member contributes his or her particular abilities and expertise. Anyone no longer in full time employment living in or near Orpington is able to join. We currently have about 1000 members and the subscription is still only £10 per annum.
Our constitution can be found in the LINKS section..

Like other U3As we organise our own programme of talks, study and interest groups, visits, travel and other activities. A new interest group starts when half a dozen or so members share a common interest and a volunteer is found to run the group. These groups are run by the members for the members. Their success depends on members' willingness to contribute. There is no guarantee that every demand can be met, but a glance at the Groups page on this Website will show that in the last twenty years we have formed nearly 100 interest groups which cover a wide range of interests and activities.

Where Groups meet in public halls and schools etc, they fully cater for members with disabilities. Where meetings are held in members' homes access may be limited and it is advisable to discuss any personal limitations with the group Leader.

To find out more about Orpington U3A, send an email to info@u3aorpington.org.uk or come to our next monthly General Meeting. Meetings are usually held on the 3rd Monday of each month at the Crofton Halls, Station Road, Orpington, starting at 2.00 for tea and socialising followed by the chosen speaker commencing at 2.30 and finishing at about 4.00 p.m. (see our Events page for more details). Come and talk to some of our members, or just send us your completed membership form. Once you have joined you can pick a group that looks interesting and ring up the Group Leader to find out if they have vacancies. It's that easy!

If you have any particular skill or a flair for organisation, please tell us about it, we welcome all contributions and active support will be much appreciated. We want your experiences with Orpington U3A to be interesting, fulfilling and enjoyable.

Finally I recommend that you keep up to date by checking the Events and Links pages of this website.

Our membership year starts on March 1st and ends on February 28th (or 29th in a leap year) of the following year. You will be sent renewal forms around the end of the year in the Newsletter. New members joining on or after December 1st of any year will not need to renew in the following March.
