This group meets monthly on ZOOM on every first Wednesday from 3-4.30 pm.
The group meets online to sew, repair, alter, upcycle and chat. Members share ideas and skills, getting inspiration and encouragement as well as possibly learning a bit about the impact of the textile industry on the ecological and climate crisis.
The group leader, Mary Morton, started dress making as a teenager and maintained an interest in sewing. She is a life-long mender who only recently learned to darn; Mary has no qualifications but enjoyed a pattern making course and is now spending a lot of time making masks and upcycling. She is a sewing volunteer with SHRUB Coop, an Edinburgh based zero waste charitable organisation and hosts weekly “Chat and Craft with SHRUB” sewing sessions.
The group welcomes up to 12 members.
