This group is now meeting at OLDHAM LIBRARY The meetings are once a month. Usually the first Friday in the Month at 2 p.m. Our next meeting is Friday 7th December.
We have a planned list of books from Oldham Library with four free choice months per year.
We aim to include all members attendng in the discussion, starting the meeting by each member saying what they thought of the book before discussing it more fully. We find ourselves reading books we wouldn't normally choose, some we love, some we hate, some we never finish, often books disliked by the majority lead to the best discussion. What we all share is a love of reading.
The book for November is 'He Said, She Said' by Erin Kelly, we will be discussing this book at our December meeting, for December we have a free choice month, for this we have decided to read 'Two Brothers' by Ben Elton.
The Reading Group have organised an afternoon tea and talk entitled 'Raucous Writers - regional writers and their lives, plus characters they've introduced whom we love or loathe' The event is on Friday 7th September, 2 p.m. at The Sugar Junction, Tib Street, Manchester [In the Northern Quarter] The cost is £17.00 for the afternoon tea and £4.50 for the talk if 25 people attend.
