The Gilded Stage: A Social History of Opera
Daniel Snowman was educated at Cambridge and Cornell and, after lecturing at the University of Sussex, worked for the BBC as Chief Producer, Features (Radio) and was responsible for a wide range of
acclaimed programmes on cultural and historical subjects. Since 2004 he has held a Senior Research Fellowship at the Institute of Historical Research, University of London.
He has written widely on historical and cultural subjects and his book, The Gilded Stage: A Social History of Opera, on which this talk is based, has been published around the world and translated into several languages.
