Welcome to Oban U3A
Oban U3A is part of the U3A in Scotland and is affiliated to the national organisation for the Universities of the Third Age in the UK, called the Third Age Trust, which is their national support and advisory body. The word 'university' is used in its original sense of people coming together to share and pursue learning in all its forms.
The U3A is an organisation for those who are retired or who work part time and who are free during the day to take part in a variety of interests and activities in informal, friendly surroundings. Each local U3A is independent and activity groups are set up and run by its members based on their interests.
Oban U3A started in 2008.
There is an informal meeting for all U3A members in the Corran Halls, Oban at 10:30am on the first Tuesday of every month (except December when we have our Christmas lunch).
This is our main monthly meeting; we chat and get to know one another over a cup of coffee. This is where we share information about interest groups, excursions, and talk about future plans. We often have talks, presented by invited speakers, following the meeting at 11:30am. If you would like to know more about our U3A please come along to one of these Tuesday meetings - you will be made very welcome. You may also like to read our latest Newsletter and also the U3A Scotland Newsletter.
The 2019 AGM was held on Tuesday 3rd September at 10:30 in the Corran Halls.
Please note that the annual membership fee will £20 for 2019-20.
