Welcome to Oban u3a

Newsletter articles - non u3a matters
Occasionally, members ask the committee or newsletter editor to promote issues dear to their hearts which may be relevant to the whole community. These are often matters which would be of interest to our members but, because they are not directly u3a matters, we are advised not to publish them for GDPR reasons. We were disappointed to have to turn down such a request recently. We would like to ask you, our members, to vote on whether you would find it acceptable to include these issues in our newsletter occasionally. Any such news would not be political or religious or be promoted via separate communications.

The Facebook option does not appear to be user friendly so please vote again as above.
Alternatively, you will find tear-off slips on the new notice board at the monthly meeting. Please do not give your opinion to committee members verbally or vote by email.

Please note that the Science & Technology and Geology Groups will be taking a break from now until the Autumn.

Some of our Groups are a bit more energetic (eg Pickleball and Walk & Lunch) and for these you are strongly advised to carry emergency details either on an "Emergency Card" or as "ICE" on your mobile phone. Neither of these would be seen by others except in the case of an emergency. Contact us or your Group Convenor for further information.

Did you know that we have an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion page? (Click on the link at the side of this page). If you have any problems or suggestions Contact Joy .

It is also possible to participate in a number of online u3a platforms.

There is an informal meeting for all u3a members in the Corran Halls, Oban at 10:30am on the first Tuesday of every month (except Bank Holidays and December). Potential new members are encouraged to come along and meet us here. For those unable to attend the meeting in person, there is the option of a video link via Jitsi. This is a similar system to zoom - the attendee simply clicks on the link. Please Contact us to arrange.

This is our main monthly meeting; we chat and get to know one another over a cup of coffee. This is where we share information about interest groups, excursions, and talk about future plans. We usually have a talk, presented by an invited speaker, at 11:00am. (No speakers over the Summer) If you would like to know more about our u3a please come along to one of these Tuesday meetings - you will be made very welcome. You may also like to read our latest Monthly Newsletter, the u3a Scotland Newsletter and the u3a National Newsletter. We also have an archive of our own Newsletter Archive and Talks Archive.
