What an historic and fascinating little gem Steamship Freshspring is! Launched in 1946, designed at the beginning of that century, and rescued in 2013, she is the last surviving ship / water carrier of this type in the world - and she is permanently moored practically on our doorstep! Visit SS Freshspring at the far end of Bideford Quay Car Park, behind the Burton Gallery, which incidentally does wonderful French style lunches!

The Trust opened especially for our u3a group, and after a fascinating and entertaining introduction we split into two smaller groups then pretty much had the free run of the whole ship for the rest of the morning. Much laughter, photography, and sunshine followed, with many thanks to our enthusiastic hosts on the day John & Pete.
