Coffee Mornings and Monthly Lunches
Our primary meetings are Coffee Morning Meetings & Monthly Lunches.
They provide an opportunity for you to talk to members of your Committee. They are both forums for you to tell us about issues that interest you or new groups you might like to be formed.
We meet on the 4th Friday of the month at 10.30 (bar August and December) at The Lantern in the High Street. These are relaxed, informal mornings with plenty of chance to meet and chat with friends, Conveners and Committee members. Entrance is £2 per person which includes coffee, tea and biscuits and a ticket for a fun raffle. Take stairs or lift to the first floor.
The meetings give members the opportunity to have a say in what goes on and get an update on activities. We provide board games and have a fun quiz and a raffle.
Please see the “Dates for Your Diary” section below for more details of forthcoming Coffee Mornings.
Non members are welcome to join us and find out more about us. All you have to do is contact Marilyn Stobbe via the link on the contacts page and tell her that you would like to come along.
All members and their guests are welcomed to our informal and friendly lunches held on the 2nd Thursday of every month bar August and December.
Non members are welcome to join us and find out more about us. All you have to do is contact the Monthly Lunch Secretary and tell her that you would like to join us for lunch.
The lunches were established at the inauguration of North Devon Coast U3A in Spring 1987 and have run continuously the 30 years since as the focal largest gathering of our U3A members. Happily some founder members still join us. Our usual attendance is 50-60 members.
Enjoy the opportunity to meet friends old and new, to chat, hear news and exchange views and to enjoy good company with an excellent meal in pleasant local venues. Plus we always have a guest speaker for added value !
We gather from 11.45 for chat and drinks to be seated by 12.40 for a welcome and announcements and lunch at 13.00. We have a main course - carvery or served dish, with choice of desserts, followed by optional tea or coffee. Special diets and wheelchair access are no problem. After lunch, Marilyn's always splendid raffle is drawn and then, from about 14.00 to 14.45, we enjoy a varied programme of talks and presentations.
Payment, preferably by cheque is £14 on the day. Right change if cash please. Coffee or tea after lunch will be optional with members asked to pay venues directly.
Members may register as regular attenders and then need only to advise if they are unable to attend or are bringing guests. Any who are not regular attenders but would like to come to a particular lunch are asked just to let the Monthly Lunch Secretary know. Please contact by 17.00 on the Monday before the Thursday lunch.
A warm welcome is extended to all.
