We meet at the resident's lounge, Sheraton Close, off Bushland Road at 10.30 on the 1st Monday of the month. A small charge is made for each meeting to cover the rental of the room and refreshments.
We have been looking at the Features of Buildings in depth, e.g. Walls, Doors, Windows, Columns, Roofs etc. We looked at how the use of materials and the style and decoration have developed across the ages, both at home and worldwide.
We are coming to the end of this project and are moving on to individual Architects. Some members have chosen architects they have a particular interest in researching, but we have had a 'lucky dip' for the others. This has brought up many interesting architects from around the world, many of whom we are not familiar with. This should result in some very informative and fascinating meetings which will probably result in much discussion. Members of the Group research a particular aspect and then give a short, illustrated presentation to the Group of their findings.
The Group will make occasional visits to interesting buildings.
Any members wishing to join the Group are assured a warm welcome.
