Music Appreciation

The group meets four weekly on a Monday, and the leader is Fred

We are a group of members who enjoy listening to, and learning about, a wide range of music including classical, opera, light classics, brass bands, choirs and musicals. Each month our group leader presents a programme of music through a high quality sound system and talks us through the history and other relevant facts about each track and its composer.

During the coming months we shall be listening to classical music by composers such as Guiseppi Verdi, Jean Sibelius, Camille Saint-Saens and Pablo Sarasate. On the lighter side we shall study the Rogers and Hammerstein musicals, classical music arranged for brass bands, the music of The Carpenters and ABBA and the operettas of Franz Lehar and Sigmund Romberg.

All members are welcome to join us and details of the subjects for the coming month are shown in the monthly Diary Sheet and as events on this Group page.

There will be no more meetings until further notice
