Alternative Walking Group
Walks of 5 to 7 miles on Tuesdays
The Intermediate group has now been merged with this group.
Walks normally start at 10 am from the meeting point.
Bring drinks and lunch and please wear proper walking gear.
The terrain can be muddy, rocky and uneven.
There are usually several stiles to cross.

Reeth to the Fremington Edge - 220 metres - 725 feet
Gormire lake to the Cleveland Way - 140 metres - 460 feet
Captain Cook's monument from the car park - 94 metres - 310 feet

John C – York Solar System walk. 7.3 miles
Easy linear walk from Riccall to York College. Level metalled track along Selby to York cycleway.
Meet at the 415 bus stop in Piccadilly, outside Primark (opposite the rear of the Merchant Adventurer's House)
We will get the 10:25 bus to start the walk by 11am.
We should arrive at York College by 3pm to get a bus back to the city centre by 3:30pm
|Tue Feb 4th||Linda & Marilyn - We meet in Leyburn, it is about 6 miles and we go to Harmby waterfalls.|
We think it is a good winter walk.
Meet outside the kiosk thing in the Market Square car park (near the pedestrian crossing).

|Tue Feb 11th||John C. – Lofthouse, Ramsgill and Middlesmoor – 7 miles.|
Mostly following the Nidderdale Way. Several squeezers on the final ascent to get your breath back.
Meet at Lofthouse Memorial Hall. Grid ref SE 102 735. Post code HG3 5SA.
|Tue Feb 25th||Glenys and Liz - Ingleby Cross to Swainby through the fields and return by Arncliffe Woods.|
The paths, especially in the woods, are likely to be muddy. It is a relatively easy walk of about 6 miles with just one ascent into the woods.

Please respect residents parking and park either on the road into the village off the A172 or on the lane past the Village Hall.
