1904 April Writing Themes

Nothing is compulsory in our Creative Writing Group, you can write what you like. However, for those who need inspiration, at our last meeting we decided to try writing the following to read out at our next meeting:-

FICTION
1) Story prompt 307 First line prompt: "The door closed behind me and I started to panic."
2) Write or finalise any outstanding stories from previous months.
3) If you are working on a novel, write your next chapter. If you are not, why not start one? Or write a character study ready to write one.

POETRY
Poetry Style:- Rondeau
The rondeau is comprised of 15 lines across 3 stanzas with the first word or phrase from the first line represented as a refrain (R) and a rhyme scheme of 2 rhymes throughout (A and B). The rhyme and refrain scheme looks like this example:

(a) In Summertime we do not go
(a) To school for weeks and weeks, no no!
(b) We take a day trip to the beach
(b) And buy ourselves an ice cream each

(a) We run into the surf that's low
(a) Get seaweed wrapped around our toe
(a) While others sunbathe on a throw
(b) We build sandcastles tides can't reach
(A) In Summertime.

(a) As the light warm breeze begins to blow
(a) And our hunger begins to grow
(b) From the picnic I grab a peach
(b) 'Let's stay longer' I do beseech
(a) As the sun sets the sky does glow
(A) In Summertime.

The A and B lines are usually 8 or 10 syllables in length. The refrain is usually 1 to 3 words (or so).
