The Cathedral of Santiago is the last stop on the pilgrim's journey. It is not easy to reach as there are a number of routes that traverse mainland Spain and indeed the continent of Europe in order to reach your final destination. Indeed, some pilgrims would argue that the camino starts on your doorstep. The most popular route is the the French camino. From St Jean-Pied-du-Port to Santiago de Compostela the total distance on foot is (769 km)
