March 2020
Here is a suggestion to fill some time over the coming months. One of our members has been taking a walk around the garden in the first of every month and making a note of what us in flower. Maybe you are already doing this yourself. If not, why not start now as April 1st is just around the corner, it doesn't need to be exactly on the 1st a couple of days either side is fine. Make a note too of the type of garden you have, the type of soil and which direction it faces. We can then arrange to compare notes later in the year, either when we are able to meet again or via the website.

25th April 2020
Hello Gardeners,

Are you glad of the current sunny weather or like me praying for some rain! The Peonies are in bud so by previous experience we can expect gales and downpours when they break into flower.

I hope you have checked the web page for details of the plant diary some if us are keeping and join in if you are not doing one yet.

Have you managed to source all the seeds plants and compost you need, if so why not share the secret with those having problems. I’ve been using up a lot of seeds that have been in the shed, with some success, which only goes to show you shouldn't believe the use by dates completely.

For those of you with garden centre withdrawal symptoms, Joe Sharman who was to have given his talk to us in May is still operating his Cottenham based nursery on line, as are some others. See link here: Monk Silver Nursery.

Also, here is a link to nursery who are offering individual or small group advice via zoom, this obviously comes at a cost. I think we are too big a group to go for this but individuals might want to give it a try or get together with a friend or two, the link for this is Great Park Farm.

When the weather does change why not take a virtual wander around a garden; those who subscribe to Gardeners World may already be aware that you can visit Longmeadow and Alan Titchmarsh's garden. Cambridge Botanic Garden and some gardens in the NGS scheme are also offering virtual visits.

By the way, what a lovely picture of Monte Bowers in the Journal, an inspiration to us all.

Keep digging!!

Kath

If anyone else has any ideas please get in touch. In the meantime happy gardening and keep well.

For all of those who were interested in the Woburn Garden Show trip, I'm afraid the event has been cancelled, maybe we can arrange to go next year.

In addition, Waddesdon Manor is not being opened to groups for the remainder of the year, so the August trip is cancelled also.
