Thu Jun 20th Celebrate the 50th anniversary of ABBA’s Eurovision win at Brighton Dome on 6 April 1974.
Brighton Museum & Art Gallery
£8.10
Walk, dance, and sing through ABBA’s visit to Brighton, through photographs, film, memories, and memorabilia and discover the week that catapulted the band to fame.
Brighton was electric with Eurovision fever, flags from different countries lined the streets, the contestants were photographed exploring the town, and excitement was building. ABBA’s eye-catching outfits ensured that people noticed them even before they stepped on stage. ‘Waterloo’, their winning song, became the band’s international breakthrough, despite the UK judges giving them ‘nul points’.
Relive the excitement of that iconic week through personal stories of people who were there. From the backstage crew and people in the audience to the autograph hunters who rushed to the stage door to meet the Swedish superstars.

On Sunday 30th June, 49 of us will be making our way to London to see Abba Voyage.  In order to warm up for this visit we are organising a trip to Brighton Museum just 10 days before the London show.

We have reserved 30 places for the exhibition for 2pm.  The price of the tickets is a bargain basement £8.10.  There will be an optional lunch at Pinocchio's before the show with a reserved table for our party booked for 12 noon.

Thu Sep 12th 80th Anniversary of D Day Outing
Thursday 12th September
Coach & D Day Museum £30
Coach & D Day Museum plus Mary Rose £66
This year will mark the 80th anniversary of D Day. To commemorate this event, we will be organising a trip to Portsmouth in September.  The morning will be spent at the wonderful D Day Museum, the only museum in the UK dedicated to the Allied Invasion in June 1944. It tells the unique personal stories behind this epic event.  Thanks to the Heritage Lottery Fund, a £5 million redevelopment project was completed in 2018. The museum was transformed to provide an engaging insight into the lives of those who took part in D-Day. whether they were on the shore in Portsmouth, or went over to Normandy .
For the afternoon, there is the option to visit the  historic ship, the Mary Rose in the historic Portsmouth Dockyard (£33 extra) or the Gunwharf Quays shopping area.
At the Mary Rose, in addition to the ship itself, there are 3 galleries showing how the men of the Mary Rose lived and worked.  This year a new immersive 4D theatre experience opened.  It explores the history of when the Mary Rose sank 377 years ago, right up to the present day.

Fri Oct 4th Around the World in 80 minutes
£85
Friday 4th October
Brick Lane Music Hall
Last year we took a trip to London to the Brick Lane Music Hall.  It was absolutely magical and since then I've been hounded for a repeat trip.  We are going to see a new show called Around the World in 80 minutes.  As before, we will be taken by coach to the doors of the music hall.  Before the show starts we will be treated to a 3 course lunch included in the price.

The Brick Lane Music Hall has a 4.9 out of 5 rating on Google reviews and is ranked number 34 out of 2,714 things to do in London by Trip Advisor.  You can find out more information about BLMH by visiting their website at bricklanemusichall.co.uk

The price is £85 per person.  We have kept this as low as possible with tough negotiations with both Brick Lane and the coach company.

If you would like to join us please let me have £30 deposit to secure your place with the balance paid by 2nd September.  You can, of course, pay the full amount up front if you prefer.

We’re All Going on a Summer Holiday
5 Days from Monday 10th July 2024 TLH Resort Derwent Hotel Torquay £379

Members have asked us to organise a holiday during the summer rather than the dreary months of winter. We’ve done a bit of research and come up with this great offer.
The Derwent Hotel is one of the best hotels in Torquay. It boasts a Spa, a Gym Studio as well as an indoor and outdoor pool. Evening entertainment is provided by a mix of some of the best cabaret acts in the area as well as its own talented entertainments team. And don’t forget the bingo.
Our price includes breakfast and evening meal as well as a free bar from 6pm until 11pm each night.
Optional excursions are provided on 2 days including a trip out on the River Dart returning by steam train. Also included in the price is an afternoon tea in the hotel on the Thursday afternoon to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Dunwood, the coach company that will be looking after us.
In the area, there are a wealth of attractions to visit including Kents Cavern, Babbacombe Model Village and Bygones.
Torquay has been the home of the rich and famous. Agatha Christie was born in Torquay and lived there until her marriage. Oscar Wilde also lived in Torquay and there are walking tours available which can tell us about their histories.
Thanks to Dunwood, who offer fantastic value for money with their holiday packages, we can offer this holiday with no single person supplement! There are 20 double rooms available and 12 singles. Rooms will be secured on a deposit of £50 with a completed booking, on a first come, first served basis.
