Industrial History

We have explored a variety of topics, from the industries which drove the industrial development of the North East to tide mills and the development of windmills, the history of spectacles, the modern sewing machine and the development of interchangeable parts in large-scale manufacturing. Most recently we have looked at the fascinating history of the canals in England.

We usually meet on the first Tuesday of the month at 14:00 at Pink Lane in Room 2 but occasionally we arrange field visits, details can be found in the monthly Group Notes. New members are welcome but please let the group leader know that you plan to attend.
