Social History
Social History
We have now changed our name from History II to reflect our coverage of social, economic, and cultural events in history both in Britain and beyond.
A session might cover say “Life in Britain from 1900 to 1914” or “Medieval Castles” or “History of Greenham Common”.
We are democratic and all share in deciding what we are going to study.
We encourage members to research the chosen subject using books, the internet, library and TV as well as their personal experiences. A short video obtainable from the internet can so easily bring the subject to life!
We are more than happy for members to join us and just listen but most find that researching a subject is very rewarding and sharing this with others even more so.
- MEETINGS: 3rd Thursday in the month at 2 - 4pm.
- VENUE: Broadway House, Northbrook Street, Newbury
