Art History
This informal, friendly group meets once a month (now 1st Monday ) at the home of one of our members. We have looked at more contemporary artists in recent months and are working to devise a new schedule from September 2023, to include artists, themes (for example: 'Fauvism' or 'Art that evokes strong emotions') that are of interest to the group members and may include discussion on recent or upcoming art exhibitions.
We take it in turns to lead the meetings - this usually takes the form of a short talk which can be supported by printed research materials, articles in books etc. and if available, a relevant DVD or clips from You Tube.
September 23 meeting is about Derain and Fauvism. October 23 is Trompe L'Oeil - from Ancient Greece to Cubism
No Art History experience is necessary, just enthusiasm and a willingness to engage in the discussion!
- VENUE: A Member's house.
- WHEN: First Monday in the month.
