The History Group was one of the first groups in Narberth U3A and currently has around 20 members attending regularly, but attendance can be higher.
We meet every 3rd Wednesday of the month at 2.00pm at Williams Court. Topics covered are wide and varied, often open to interpretation. They cover both British and foreign history, including social history. Subjects are not necessarily those taught at school, eg the history of railways, aviation, people, places etc. Presentations are mainly by the group leader, Phil Mahiques, and David Dando, but other members sometimes contribute and there are occasional outside speakers.
Serious "stuff" like the Gunpowder Plot, French Revolution, The Chartist Movement etc might be matched by topics such as "History According to Giles", "Mad Monarchs", "History of Inns and Inn Signs" etc.
New members are always welcome.
