French Conversation

This Group meets on the second and fourth Thursday morning in each month,
with the aim of increasing confidence, so that we can hold a conversation in French. To increase our vocabulary we play lots of games from Bingo to Happy Families, from the Memory Game to Miming, as well as our own version of ‘Just a Minute’. We have a great deal of fun and do not take ourselves too seriously. We do role-plays about supermarkets, train stations etc and we prepare a ‘topic’ for each session which we fondly refer to as ‘homework’. We have gradually weaned ourselves away from reading out what we have prepared in favour of speaking (referring to notes if necessary) and thanks to an excellent Northumberland Education Service web-site we have greatly enjoyed re-telling children’s stories in French. None of us is an expert, but we all help each other.
