Bridge

The Bridge group was one of the first U3A Interest Groups to get started. Under the capable, and enthusiastic, leadership of Muriel Hamilton the group has covered 47 lessons since starting in November 2011. At the start there were many learners. Since September 2014 the group has played every Monday afternoon in the McBoyle Hall in Portknockie up until 27 April 2015. One of our members has moved to Perthshire, while another member has given up for health reasons. Four of our members are now playing in local bridge clubs where they will continue to learn more about the game. The other members play bridge in each other's homes. As a result there is no longer a need for beginners classes as most members have moved on to playing bridge either socially with friends or at local club level.

At the May 2017 AGM an interest was expressed by some members wishing to start up a new set of classes of Bridge for Beginners. It was decided that if a viable group can be formed then it may be possible to re-start classes. Sadly there was not enough interest to start a new, viable group. If there is sufficient interest in the 2018 - 2019 session then a new group will be formed.

To register your interest please go to our Contact page. The U3A Secretary will acknowledge your interest and inform you if, and when, a new Bridge for Beginners Class starts.
