Mid-Northumberland

Welcome to Mid-Northumberland U3A

Thank you for visiting our website, which we hope you will find interesting and easy to use.

Mid-Northumberland U3A,"(registered charity no: 1177467)" is a member of the national Third Age Trust, which is a self-help organisation for people who are retired, semi-retired or no longer in regular employment, whose emphasis is on lifelong learning through educational, creative and leisure activities.

For more information about the history and ethos of the U3A go to the website for the Third Age Trust or click on the U3A tab above, which will allow you to access the national site.

In Mid-Northumberland we have a wide range of activity groups which are organised by the members themselves. These take place in Longhirst Village Hall or sometimes in each others’ homes or local pubs etc. Groups are self-supporting and members share their skills and life experiences to learn together for enjoyment and pleasure, not for qualifications or exam results. Our groups range in interest from Classical Greek, Genealogy and Local History to Theatre, Wine Appreciation and Play Reading. Please click on the GROUPS tab to see a comprehensive list and details of our activities.

A General Meeting for the whole membership is held in Longhirst Village Hall on the second Wednesday in each month for which there is no charge made. We meet at 2:00 pm and there is generally an invited speaker followed by a break for some refreshments, during which there is time to socialise before a short branch business meeting. You are more than welcome to come along to one of these monthly meetings to meet the members, listen to the speaker and find out more about us. Please check the EVENTS page for a list of General Meetings.

Our Social Group meets on the first Thursday of every month in Longhirst Village Hall where members can get to know each other, or catch up with friends and generally have a good chat over tea/coffee and biscuits. This is a useful opportunity for new members to meet existing members and find out about groups they would like to join or our social events.

We deliver a Newsletter every month by email to keep you up to date with our group activities and events but we will also post and regularly update details on the website. (See the EVENTS page).

Mid-Northumberland is a very friendly group and joining us is a great way to meet people and make new friends as well as discover new interests. We are an inclusive organisation and everyone is welcome. Find out More About Us here.
