Mid-Northumberland

Carpet Bowls

Frequency:1st and 3rd Mondays - but see dates below
Time:7.15pm
Venue:Longhirst Village Hall
Leader:Alan Hardiman

We have been up and running now for a couple of years and meet for one hour on the first and third Mondays (7.15pm) each month. There are two carpets to bowl on. It will cost you £2 to play (to cover the cost of the hall hire) and to build up enough money to have a free 2 hour session just before Christmas.

New members will be most welcome. It does not matter if you have never played bowls before you will soon get the hang of it.

We are relaxed and friendly group.

Each fortnight I send a reminder to the bowlers in the form of a poem. Here are a couple sent out in the last few months.

17th September

Hey, just for a moment, yes I know that it’s hard
But put aside all your theories of Sunday’s “Bodyguard “

On Monday evening your company we would like to share
7.15 as usual, hope to see you there.

21st May 2018 (Royal wedding and Cup Final weekend)

Saturday comes and London is where its at
And cameras are snapping the bride, the dress, the hat.
There is football at Wembley South v North
Let the blue and the red topped fans come forth

Monday comes and at seven fifteen
Beside the carpet bowling green
I hope you’ll be there eager to play
It makes a perfect end to the day.
