Mid-Northumberland

Wine Appreciation Group (WAG)

Frequency:Friday evening - every other month.
Time:7 - 10 p.m.
Venue:Longhirst Village Hall
Leader:Peter Coates.

The group holds informal wine tastings usually every other month on a Friday evening. There is also a joint Annual Dinner held with the Food Appreciation Group in Longhirst Village Hall.

Tastings are always more of a social gathering than any pretence of taking wine related issues too seriously, but we know good wines from poor ones! Tasty refreshments (usually a buffet) are also a regular part of the enjoyment of the evening.

Members volunteer to host an event roughly once every two or three years in Longhirst Village Hall. Occasionally we may invite a local wine merchant along to offer us a selection of their wares and further our knowledge of the more technical aspects of wine production and the numerous grape varieties available.

New members are very welcome at any time.
