MON Apr 15th: RSPB NORTHWARD HILL, HOO MEETING HAS BEEN RE-SCHEDULED FROM 08/04/2019). New meeting time NOW 10.00. A day with Lauren Kennedy (BBCT) looking at what the 'Making a Buzz for the Coast' project has achieved during 2018. Please let Beryl Connelly know that you will be attending.

Beginners Bumblebee ID Course @ Arrow Riding Centre, Darenth Park Ave, Dartford DA2 6LZ, UK
May 4 @ 10:30 am – 3:30 pm. A fun beginner’s course where we will cover the identification of our most common bumblebee species and introduce the ecology, lifecycle and conservation of these iconic creatures.

Intermediate Bumblebee ID course @ Riverside Country Park, Lower Rainham Rd, Rainham, Gillingham ME7 2XH, UK
Aug 4 @ 9:30 am – 3:30 pm. This intermediate course will cover the identification of all UK species, including an in depth look at bumblebee ecology, lifecycle and conservation. The course will focus on the rarer species of Kent and how to tell the tricky species apart. Suitable for persons who can identify the most common bumblebees.

START OF SEASON MEETING on 25 February: The following points were decided:

  • The 5 established walks to continue in 2019 with modification to the routes at Jeskyns and Cobham Mausoleum
  • 8 April 2019 - a day out at RSPB Northward Hill, Hoo with Lauren Kennedy - more information and time TBC
  • Possible link with Canterbury U3A who are interested in forming a similar group.
  • Dates for all walks finalised for 2019 season and added to the events section of website
  • Information about our group to be added to the National U3A research database
