Meols (Southport)

Gardening

The seeds for Meols U3A Gardening group was sewn in the summer of 2006 and since then it has flourished to become the fine group of more than 30 people we have now.

From enjoying our visit to gardens large and small , to allotments and vegetable farms, and also learning much from each other and the horticultural experts we meet. All who happily share their knowledge the group is thriving.

We engage with the local community and amongst other things Have planted and cared for a tree as part of a local regeneration project, created a garden group banner featuring people, plants and gardens which the accompanies our meetings, and have planted a bed of purple and gold Crocus in the church gardens in the shape of the U3A logo.

We are actively involved in our community and our always looking forward to our next project.

Some of our members do not have gardens but retain the love of gardening so whether you have many acres or not ,or none at all,all are welcome.

We also hold gardening quizzes, an annual harvest festival showing and celebrating our own produce, coach outings,an annual hotpot supper, not to be missed and a special Christmas event.

All these occasions and so much more add up to a calendar packed with interest pleasure and good friendships too.

Please do come and join us...
