U3A Science Matters Group meets monthly to discuss topics of a scientific/technological/engineering nature. Although most members have some expertise in science the group welcomes others who are “just interested” in matters scientific Although not compulsory members often make some sort of presentation to the group. We’ve had talks, amongst many others, on computing, history of science and famous scientists; genetics and biochemistry, evolution, aspects of astronomy, pharmaceuticals and language. Discussions have been on topics such as climate change and who should feature on the new £50 note.

We are friendly and always welcome “new blood” to stimulate our meetings further.
