Melbourne Area Derby

Welcome

The u3a is a UK-wide network of locally-run interest groups that provide a wide range of activities for those no longer in full-time employment. We come together to learn for fun, stay active and share interests.

Melbourne Area Derby u3a
As an autonomous branch of the National u3a, Melbourne Area Derby u3a [MAD u3a] welcomes members from far and wide, including Aston, Barrow, Breedon, Calke, Castle Donington, Hartshorne, Melbourne, Kings Newton, Stanton, Swarkestone, Ticknall, Weston and Wilson. Established in September 2017, we have over 200 members. MAD u3a is run entirely by members for members. Our volunteers organise activities ranging from art to walking, bridge to history and much more. Join us and share your experience and interests.

Group Meetings
Members have the opportunity to join any available group (see groups tab), or set up a new group if there is sufficient local interest. Each group is coordinated by a member with a special interest or expertise in the area. But it is the group, as a whole, that decides the general direction, suggesting topics and ideas.

Monthly members' meetings
We offer members the opportunity to meet socially, hear interesting speakers and share refreshments at our monthly all members' meeting. These usually take place on the first Thursday afternoon of each month, 2pm, at Melbourne Assembly Rooms (see events tab). Non-members who are interested in joining are very welcome to attend. Additionally, occasional social events, visits and taster sessions are organised.

National and regional u3a
Members of Melbourne Area Derby u3a have the opportunity to explore events further afield. The National u3a site allows access to a wide range of u3a national on-line events and the East Midlands u3a and Derbyshire Network sites have information about other local u3as.
