The Members on Their Own group as the name suggests is aimed at u3a members who live alone and are not in a relationship. We create opportunities to meet other u3a members in a similar situation.
Since the first meeting in July 2019, we have arranged numerous activities and social events. All Group Members are encouraged to arrange activities for the Group. Simply bring your suggestion to the attention of one of the Group Organisers and we will put you in touch with the membership and support you in organising the event.
Social Outings: We have had members organise trips to Whitstable, Down House, the Rochester Christmas Market, the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, Eltham Palace, the Medway Queen and the Copper Rivet Gin Distillery.
Social meetings We have regular gatherings at the Thomas Waghorn pub in Chatham for Sunday lunch or just a drink and a chat. Other pubs are available! Why not suggest a time and venue and we'll put it out there!
Plate and bottle parties: A member of the group kindly hosts an afternoon social in their homes. Members bring along some snacks / nibbles to share, plus their own ‘tipple’.
Dinner & Dances: Members have celebrated Christmas with dinner dances at the Bridgewood Manor Hotel
